You may have seen the term “Leaky Gut” floating around the web and wondered, “what the heck is that?” In short it means that the lining of our (or our pet’s) gut is unhealthy and allowing for food particles, bacteria and toxins to enter the blood stream. This can create symptoms like itching that we may not think are related to gut health. Many people aren’t aware of this, but our immune system health is VERY closely tied to our gut health. Learn more about leaky gut here.

Leaky Gut can be the core issue of imbalances like skin disease, compromised immune systems, food allergies, digestive problems, ear infections or any common health condition that comes from an inflammatory disorder.

Adored Beast Leaky Gut Protocol

Recently I attended a webinar with Julie Anne Lee, DCH to learn more about the Adored Beast Apothecary products that she has developed. I have been having some issues with my 1.5 year old Boxer, Pebbles, and was lucky enough to be able to ask some questions about her symptoms.

Pebbles’ Symptoms

  1. Underweight despite eating a healthy raw diet, and eating higher than the recommended servings sizes.
  2. Runny eyes.
  3. Regurgitating and gulping air.

Having had Boxers before, I knew that they were hard to keep weight on because they are so active and muscular. The runny eyes aren’t all that unusual either. I decided to add the Healthy Gut and Gut Soothe products to her regime to see if they would perhaps help her with food absorption.

During the webinar, I mentioned to Julie Anne that while on the Healthy Gut and Gut Soothe products, Pebbles stopped regurgitating, but started again once we took her off of them. I was surprised to learn that these symptoms could also be related to a leaky gut and Julie Anne suggested we try the Leaky Gut Protocol with her.

Two Week Update

Pebbles has been on the Leaky Gut Protocol for about two weeks now, and we have had only one gulping/regurgitating episode since she started. Her eyes are still runny, but they have improved. She has not had any weight gain however, so we are going to continue to watch that closely. Her activity level has increased with warmer weather, so I am not sure if it’s just that she’s more active. I will check back in a few weeks and let you all know about Pebbles’ progress!

Is the Leaky Gut Protocol right for my Pet?

In today’s world, you would be hard pressed to find a dog or a human that doesn’t suffer from SOME degree of inflammation in the body. If your pet has ever had an abundance of vaccines, been on a poor quality diet, or been exposed to any kind of environmental toxin, they are likely a good candidate.

Even Pebbles who lives in a chemical/smoke free home, is on a limited vaccine protocol, and has only ever been on a raw diet is in need of some assistance. This is likely due to the fact that the Boxer breed is not one of the healthier breeds (my breeder is doing some fantastic work to reverse this, but it will take time!) So, what I am saying is that it’s worth a try!

If you’d like to put your pet on the Adored Beast’s Leaky Gut Protocol, we are offering a hefty discount, $25 OFF of the kit until the end of March. NOW is the time to give it a try!
